However, despite several chances created by both sides, the score remained 0-0 at half-time. The defenders of both teams acted decisively, stopping all potential goal-scoring opportunities. The second half started with renewed vigour and Borussia Monchengladbach tried to break the deadlock. However, RB Leipzig's defence held firm and continued to annoy their opponents. There were a lot of fouls in the match, and in the 24th minute RB Leipzig's player D. Raum received a yellow card. In an attempt to change the dynamics of the game, Borussia Monchengladbach made two substitutions in the 64th minute. J. Sibatcheu and A. P. Raum joined the game instead of the retired players. Sibatcheu and A. Plea. However, RB Leipzig reacted quickly, making their own substitution in the 70th minute.

RB Leipzig made two substitutions in the 84th minute, hoping to take the game to victory. Instead of L. Klostermann and N. Seiwald, X. Schlager and X. Seiwald came into the game. Schlager and X. Simons. After the final whistle, RB Leipzig won 1-0. The match showed the resilience of both teams' defences, but in the end RB Leipzig took the three points. Borussia Monchengladbach are undoubtedly disappointed with the result, but will try to get back on track in the next match.
