Veljkovic received a yellow card. At the end of the match Bremen made the last substitution in the 90th minute, replacing R. Schmid with N. Keita. This substitution signalled the end of a thrilling encounter in which Werder Bremen won 2-1. The match demonstrated the competitiveness of the Bundesliga and showed the exciting nature of football.
