Kryvbas head coach Yurii Vernydub shared his impressions of the victory over Vorskla in the 8th round of the UPL.
- We knew what kind of opponent we were going to visit. Poltava always fights for the highest places, and the fact that they played in the Conference League this year is a confirmation of this.
We knew that it would be difficult, and their recent matches prove it. "Vorskla won three matches in a row, though then lost to Dynamo. I watched their last matches, and I liked the opponent.
I am very grateful to my guys. But in the first 15-20 minutes I did not understand what was happening. The team made a lot of mistakes. But then, when they conceded, they reacted very quickly. We levelled the score and took the lead. In general, we had the initiative in the first half. The score is the game, although we could have scored even more.
I want to say words of support to Vorskla, they still have everything ahead of them. You will be fine, you need to prepare from game to game and move on.
- Experts note the progress of Kryvbas. However, there are doubts whether the team will be strong enough to go the whole distance of the championship. Are Zaderaka and Kozhushko ready to become the new team leaders?
- You know, I'll put it another way: wherever I've worked - in Ukraine, in Belarus, in Tiraspol - I've never looked at whether I have leaders and I don't want to. I always want to have a team, a whole. When there are leaders in the team, a lot of problems begin.
I am glad that we are now achieving results as a team. We are gaining points, and at the end of the season we will see where we are. Now, thank God, we are preparing further.
There are many difficult matches ahead, a busy schedule. As soon as we get back, we're going to Odesa for the Ukrainian Cup in two days. Then we have a tough game against Rukh in the UPL, and then we'll see, we'll take a breather and rest somewhere," he said.
