Members of the executive committee of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Hans-Joachim Watzke have spoken out in support of UEFA's scandalous decision to allow Russian junior teams to participate in matches organised by the organisation. About it reports TV channel DW with reference to the edition of Bild.
"Children are victims of war. They are innocent and need protection, they are in no way responsible for this war and they should not be further penalised," Rummenigge said.
"This is by no means a weakening of our intransigent stance towards russia, on the contrary: adult teams are still excluded. Here we are talking about children who are not involved in this disgusting war and who have not yet developed the political will," said Watzke.
We will remind, earlier England, Ukraine, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Ireland announced that they would not play with opponents from Russia.
