Vorskla Poltava's head coach Viktor Skrypnyk commented on his team's 2-1 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk in the Ukrainian Premier League matchday 9.
"I can only thank my guys. The victory on Wednesday (over Metalist 1925, 3-0, in the 1/8 finals of the Ukrainian Cup - ed.) gave us confidence. We understood that it would be very difficult to play without the ball. We were patient and looked for our chances up front.
Since we won, I am pleased with the physical condition of my players. It was enough to beat Shakhtar. However, Shakhtar is still Shakhtar. Together with Dynamo, they are the flagships of Ukrainian football. This will give us even more confidence.
It is still very difficult for Nesterenko to play with such opponents. However, the guy is developing. He deserved it by working hard in training. He is our little star, but to be a big star, he needs to work even harder," said Skrypnyk.
