Former Dutch national team head coach Louis van Gaal is going to help Ajax, which is going through a crisis period.
Louis van Gul, Getty ImagesThe Amsterdam club announced on its official website that van Gaal will advise the Supervisory Board on "technical football issues". Van Gaal, who led Ajax from 1991-1997 and won the Champions League in 1995, replaced Jan van Hulst, who decided not to return to the board after his term as CEO expired.
"I want to help Ajax. I now spend a large part of my life in Portugal and this can be combined well with my role as an external advisor. I am ready to offer my football knowledge to the Supervisory Board. We have to find our sporting way back to the top," said the Dutch coach.
With five games played in the Eredivisie, Ajax is 15th in the standings with five points.
