As the game progressed, the tension grew, and in the 45th minute Girona player Y. Herrera received a yellow card. Only after an hour of play Girona finally took the lead. A. Garcia's goal in the 59th minute left the Cadiz defence defenceless and gave Girona a deserved advantage. Both teams then made a few substitutions to bring fresh energy onto the pitch.
Girona's M. Gutierrez replaced P. Torre in the 62nd minute, and soon after, Cadiz's G. Escalante replaced R. Kouame in the 66th minute. Cadiz continued to make substitutions, with I. Carcelen replacing Lucas Pires in the 67th minute. Girona also made a number of substitutions: in the 72nd minute A. Dovbyk replaced K. Stuani. Two more substitutions followed in the 72nd minute: Savio replaced Valeri. There were also changes in the Cadiz squad: M. Gomez replaced S. Guardiola on 74 minutes. In the final stages of the match, both teams made desperate attempts to gain an advantage. In the 79th minute Cadiz introduced K. Ramos instead of A. Negredo and J. Mere instead of R. Sobrino. Girona responded with their fourth and fifth substitutions in the 88th minute: J. Herrera was replaced by J. Herrera. Herrera was replaced by I. Kebe, and I. Martin came on in place of Juanpe. Towards the end of the game, I. Kebe received a yellow card in the 90th minute, emphasising the tension that remained until the final whistle. As a result, Girona secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Cadiz. Both teams showed great skill and commitment throughout the game, but ultimately it was Girona's ability to capitalise on their opportunities that was the deciding factor. This La Liga match at the Nuevo Mirandilla stadium will be remembered as a tense battle between two dedicated teams, with Girona winning by just one goal.
