Manchester City head coach Josep Guardiola has spoken about the reasons why the transfer of West Ham midfielder Declan Rice, who eventually joined Arsenal in the summer, failed.
"Everyone knows we wanted Rice. In the end, Arsenal made more efforts and wanted him more. Perhaps Arteta was more convincing than me, or the club itself, or their offer, but we didn't believe we could get Declan.
Usually, when Manchester City spend that amount of money, it's crazy, but when others do it, they are considered so clever," Guardiola was quoted as saying by the Manchester Evening News.
It will be recalled that Rice's transfer cost the Gunners £105 million.
