Striker of Zhytomyr Polesya Filipp Budkovskiy commented on the victory of his team over Dynamo Kyiv (3:2) in the recent match of the 10th round of the Ukrainian championship, in which he became the author of one of the goals scored.
Filip Budkowski- Your resultant shot set the balance in the match with Dynamo. If we take into account that at that moment "Polesie" was left in the minority after Yevhen Morozko's suspension, this goal is twice as valuable....
- When I came on as a substitute, the task was to help my teammates. After all, we had to get back. It turned out well: right after appearing on the field I helped to do the job that is required from a striker. It turned out that I played for myself and "for that guy" - Morozko. I would like it to continue. But without red cards.
- You played the lion's share of matches, coming on the pitch in the starting lineup, but in the game with Dynamo you were in the list of substitutes. What do you attribute it to?
- There are coaches who have their own vision and certain tactics for the game. The head coach has chosen exactly such tactics, using more speedy players. And it's normal. Such things are quite normal in the team, there are no problems with it. It turns out that coming into the game after the substitution, it worked out even better.
- Playing in the minority, "Polesie" managed to score two goals. How would you explain such a rare case for football?
- We played for each other, as one team truly united by a common goal. Somewhere luck was with us. When we scored one goal, then another - and went ahead. In my opinion, playing under the motto "One for all - and all for one", the guys showed character. We played as one big pack on the field.
- When did you realise that you would be able to defend the victory?
- Leading 3:2, we knew that we had one less player in the squad, so we "sat" in defence and played on the rebound. This is normal for a game in the minority. But when shortly before the final whistle both teams had the same number of players, we fought back, trying to win by all means. And it was good that we achieved it.
- For "Polesie" and Zhytomyr this victory is truly historic. How did you celebrate it?
- Our fans celebrated more. We were only happy, all of us were overflowing with positive emotions. There were a lot of them, because we haven`t felt something like this for a long time. And our team will celebrate when the championship is over.
- Are there any bonuses for the victory over one of the Ukrainian grandees?
- The club president usually talks about it after the game. However, he was not in the locker room, so I can`t tell you anything about it. When we get it - then we will see. It is clear that for Zhytomyr, and personally for the president, the victory over Dynamo is a great joy. As well as for us.
- Did the head coach gave the team an extra day off?
- Yes. We worked fruitfully, and before that we had fewer days off - the schedule was too tight. Thanks to the win against Dynamo we have one more. So we will have a little rest and work again. We will resume work on Tuesday.
- Would you compare the coaching style of Yuriy Kalitvintsev and his assistants with any of the previous coaches?
- I would not like to draw parallels with anyone, because each coach has his own methods of work, his own style, tactics and specifics of training. Everyone has his own approach, reflected in the results obtained on the football field.
- What does your team aim at this season?
- "Polesie" only recently promoted, so all of us together want to "taste" the UPL and stay in it. This is our main goal. If we talk about current affairs, then in every match we play exclusively to win. And at the end of the season we will look at the standings, and based on the place taken, we will see what we can count on.
