As previously reported, the Ukrainian national team will play its final match of the Euro 2024 qualifying cycle - home, against Italy - at the BayArena stadium in Leverkusen, Germany. The meeting will take place on 20 November. Bayer Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro commented on this decision.
"We are happy that we were able to send a message, albeit small, of our solidarity and support for Ukraine.
For many Ukrainians who have found their second home in the Rhineland, this game at the BayArena is a great opportunity to directly support their home team. Just as it is for the many Italian citizens living in our region. We look forward to a peaceful and, of course, exciting celebration of football," the official UAF website quotes Carro as saying.
