The head coach of the youth national team of Ukraine Unai Melgosa told what he expects from the Euro 2025 (U-21) qualifying match against England, which will take place today in Kosice, Slovakia.
"We know the capabilities of England. They have good players, so we have to be our best version to compete with them. We worked during this training camp and the previous one as well. It's a process. Especially for young players. We look at these moments as a process. In September, we did the necessary work. I hope we can compete with England.
The players must be in the positions and roles they are supposed to be in on the pitch. The most important thing for us is to be the best version of ourselves. As a team, we have to maintain balance and structure. The players accept all the instructions we give them. But they are not robots, they think about our instructions and make decisions on the field. We are very happy about this.
Is the team psychologically ready for the game against England? We will see. But it's not just about the players, but also about the coaches. It's about all of us - to be ready for such matches. It's good for us to have this experience. The main thing we have to do is ourselves," Melgosa said.
