On Tuesday, 17 October, the Ukraine national team will play an away match of the Euro 2024 qualifying cycle against Malta. A day before the game, Ukraine's head coach Serhiy Rebrov held a pre-match press conference.
Sergei Rebrov- What is the personnel situation in the team before the upcoming match?
- Unfortunately, as you probably know, Malinovskyi will not be able to take part in this meeting due to a yellow card. On the other hand, Denis Popov has fully recovered and started to work in the general group. So all our players are recovering and preparing for the match.
- What can we expect from the national team of Malta? The same closed game, as in the first match against this team, or something else, based on the fact that this time it plays at home?
- I think that in the first match against us Malta played openly, created chances and there were enough of them. We have to be very focused tomorrow. This is a very important game for us. As important as the game against North Macedonia was. I am sure that all the players of our team realise how tough the match is. The same as in the first match with the Maltese. Therefore, we are preparing very seriously.
- How did Nazariy Rusin show himself at the current training camp? Can we expect that he will be included in the squad for the match with Malta?
- We`ll see. We have one more training session. But I am grateful to Nazariy, he is a professional and there are no questions to him. Rusin understands everything, including the fact that a call-up to the national team is a very big honour for him. He works on a par with everyone and has a chance to appear in the squad tomorrow.
