Portugal's star player Cristiano Ronaldo calmly converted the penalty, giving his team their first lead. As the game progressed, Portugal continued to build pressure. In the 20th minute, Ronaldo once again showed his skill by scoring a stunning goal. The Bosnian defence struggled to cope with Portugal's attacking moves and in the 25th minute Bernardo Fernandes scored another goal for Portugal. Portugal's onslaught on the Bosnia and Herzegovina goal did not stop there. In the 32nd minute Joao Cancelo added his name to the score sheet with a successful strike. The first half ended with Portugal holding a comfortable 5-0 lead after Joao Felix struck in the 41st minute.
Bosnia and Herzegovina made two substitutions at half-time in an attempt to change the course of the match. Edin Demirovic and Adnan Rahmanovic came on as substitutes in place of Jasko Gazibegovic and Amar Hadzijaahmetovic respectively. However, these changes did not have a significant impact on the game. Portugal, on the other hand, made a series of substitutions in the 65th minute, bringing in Rafael Leao and Pedro Neto to give them fresh energy. Bosnia and Herzegovina also made three substitutions with Marko Stevanovic, Semir Hamulic and Neilan Vasilj. Despite the changes, the pace of the match remained virtually unchanged, with Portugal continuing to dominate. In the 79th minute, Portugal made a double substitution, replacing Joao Felix and Bernardo Fernandes with Vitinho and Ruben Neves respectively. The final minutes of the match saw several disciplinary offences, with Bosnia and Herzegovina's Dino Hadzikadunic receiving a yellow card in the 83rd minute and Sead Kolasinac in the 88th minute. Portugal made one last substitution in the final minutes of the match, replacing Otavio with Joao Neves. The half-time whistle signalled Portugal's convincing 5-0 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina. The match demonstrated Portugal's superiority and ability to dismantle opponents with ease. Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the other hand, need to regroup and analyse their game to identify areas for improvement. With their impressive performance, Portugal have cemented their position as one of the favourites to qualify for the European Championship.
