Weghorst failed to convert the penalty, kicking the ball slightly away from the goal. This miss served as a wake-up call for both teams, forcing them to intensify their efforts in search of a goal. In the 29th minute, Greek player P. Mantalos got into the referee's book, receiving a yellow card. The score remained 0-0 at half-time, which meant a break in play and an opportunity for the teams to regroup and work out a new strategy. The second half started with a series of substitutions. The final whistle recorded a 1-0 victory for the Netherlands. Both teams showed exceptional skill and determination throughout the match, but it was the Netherlands who triumphed in this European Championship qualifier at OPAP Arena. With this victory, the Netherlands are one step closer to securing a place at the prestigious tournament, while Greece will have to regroup and come out stronger in their next matches.
