Juventus midfielder Nicolo Faggioli has been banned for seven months for betting on illegal platforms, Football Italia reports.
The Italian national team player will no longer play this season after the Turin prosecutor's office suspended him from football for seven months. The 12-month suspension was handed down on Tuesday, five of which were suspended. Faggioli was fined 12,500 euros and will also have to undergo therapy for gambling addiction.
Such a disqualification is a significant reduction in the punishment that is usually imposed for violating Article 24 of the Code of Sports Justice and is three years. The main reason for the reduced sentence is the player's full cooperation with the judicial authorities and his desire to fight his gambling addiction.
