Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin accused the forward of being involved in a terrorist group after Karim's post on X: "All our prayers are with the people of Gaza who are once again victims of these unjust bombings that spare no women and children."
"Just by writing this, he is a Hamas propaganda agent," Darmanin said.
Boyer called for the case and possible sanctions against Benzem to be considered:
"A sanction, symbolic at first, would be to deprive him of the Ballon d'Or and then of his French citizenship. We cannot accept that a world-famous Frenchman with dual citizenship would disgrace and betray our country in such a way."
