Famous Ukrainian coach Yuriy Virt commented on the not quite usual look of the Ukrainian league standings in mid-autumn.
Yuriy Wirth- "The level of the Ukrainian championship has dropped because we had a large outflow of quality legionnaires. This is evident in our results in European competitions. So, the giants dropped down, but the rest of the teams remained at their level, and the championship levelled up. Yes, it has become interesting, full of intrigue... We now have about ten teams of more or less the same level. There is no favourite who is ahead by many points, no hopeless outsider from whom nothing is expected. Everyone is equal, everyone takes points, and it's impossible to predict how a match will end.
For example, Dynamo won at Polissya 2-1, played on the power play and lost 2-3. Is it possible to predict this? No way! Although I do not exclude Dynamo from the championship favourites. On the contrary, the Kyiv team is in a privileged position now. They don't have any European competitions, and the White and Blues will put all their efforts into the league, while Shakhtar will have to focus on the Champions League. But while before the start of the championship, some people said that Dynamo would be the champion, and others said that Shakhtar would be the champion, there have been fewer such categorical statements recently. There is no telling how it will end, and that's great. The intrigue is off the charts," Wirth said.
