Manchester City head coach Josep Guardiola has suggested introducing a separate award for Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi.

"There should be two versions of the Ballon d'Or - for Messi and for everyone else. Messi's worst season is the best season for the rest of the players," Guardiola was quoted as saying by the BBC.

It will be recalled that the 2023 Ballon d'Or ceremony will take place on 30 October.
