Myron Markevych, a renowned Ukrainian coach and current manager of Lviv's Karpaty, commented on Lionel Messi's Ballon d'Or award following the 2022/23 season.
"I don't think Messi deserved to win the Ballon d'Or this year, although he is the strongest player in football history.
Winning the World Cup is the only thing that can be noted about Messi last season. He already has seven Ballon d'Ors, where does he need an eighth? It's not reasonable.
My favourite is Holland. He scored a bunch of goals last season and won the treble. I'll put Mbappe second. I also like Bellingham today, he is very young, but he is a top player. I think Bellingham will be in contention for the next Ballon d'Or. He is a unique footballer, I haven't seen anyone like him for a long time," Markevich was quoted as saying by Ukrainian Football.
