This weekend are the matches of the 13th round of the Ukrainian championship of the season-2023/24. Dynamo Kyiv and Shakhtar Donetsk met in one of them on Friday, 3 November. The match took place in Kyiv at the Dynamo stadium named after Valeriy Lobanovskiy.

Both teams were expected to start the match very actively, but at the same time they acted with some apprehension. "The Pitmen controlled the ball a bit more often in the opening period, but the Dynamo had the first shots on goal. In short, there was complete parity on the pitch in this period of the match.
Towards the midway point of the first half, Shakhtar began to surpass Dynamo in terms of ball control to a greater extent, but it did not lead to any sharpness at the gates of Kyiv. All the visitors managed to achieve was a free-kick, which was confidently handled by Buschan.
On 30 minutes, however, Dynamo created the first goal of the match - Shepelev delivered a pass to the Pitmen's penalty area from the left flank and Benito hit a low shot from 10 metres - exactly on target, but Riznyk managed to save his team. And two minutes later Shaparenko made a superb pass at thirty metres, as a result of which Karavaev found himself with the ball and without custody near the 11-metre mark, but his shot was incredibly inaccurate as for such a position. But on 44 minutes, Karavaev shot (from the penalty area) much better, and in this case the ball almost struck the bar of Shakhtar's goal. And just before the half-time whistle, Shaparenko also scored with a good long-range shot - again a bit inaccurate.
Shakhtar started the second half more actively, and in the 53rd minute it brought the result: Neverton with a cutting pass brought Zubkov to the operational space in the left side of Dynamo penalty area and he sent the ball into the near corner of Buschan's goal with a confident shot - 0:1.
Having achieved success, the Pitmen did not slow down for some time and continued to play an active attacking game on Dynamo's half of the pitch, but towards the middle of the half Shakhtar practically switched to playing second number. In such conditions, Kyiv started to conduct positional attacks more often, but it did not lead to scoring chances. For most of the second half, Dynamo's actions were limited to two shots: a long-range shot from Dyachuk, which flew just over the crossbar, and Brazhko's free-kick, which also lacked a bit of accuracy. In the 79th minute, the Pitmen were close to scoring their second goal - Sikan went one-on-one with Buschan in a counterattack, but the Dynamo goalkeeper managed to clear the ball after the opponent's shot.
And Dynamo had the last chance to avoid defeat in the 89th minute of the game, when Karavaev, having entered the penalty area of the Donets after Ponomarenko's pass, shot unhindered from 10 metres, but missed the target. As a result, the game ended with Shakhtar's minimal 1-0 victory.
After the played matches Dynamo has 16 points and is in 7th place in the championship standings, 10 points behind the leading Kryvbas.
In the next, 14th round Dynamo will play an away match against Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih, which will be held on Sunday, 12 November, in Kryvyi Rih at the stadium "Gornyak" (kick-off - at 17:00).
