The Portuguese scored at the end of the game, responding to a flank cross from Conceicao. At the age of 40 years and 254 days, Pepe became the oldest goal scorer in the history of the Champions League. In doing so, Pepe surpassed the result of Roma's legendary captain Francesco Totti, who scored a goal at the age of 38 years and 59 days.
