The Referees Committee of the Ukrainian Football Association has made organisational conclusions after the match of the 13th round of the Ukrainian championship between Metalist 1925 and Chornomorets.
"In the 9th minute, player No. 70 of FC Chornomorets falls in the penalty area due to the dynamics of the game without any foul, but the referee misinterprets this as a simulation and applies a yellow card sanction to the above-mentioned player. The decision is wrong, but it cannot be corrected by VAR because, according to the VAR protocol, this technology does not have the ability to intervene in yellow card decisions.
In the 40th minute, player No. 70 of FC Chornomorets commits an offence that is punishable by a technical penalty in the form of a free kick and a yellow card warning. As this is the second card this player has received in this match, the referee gives him a red card. The decision is correct, but the first warning was incorrect and led to an incorrect sending off.
The UAF Referees Committee sent a letter to the referee, emphasising the above, and temporarily suspended him from matches," reads the official statement on the UAF website.
