The International Football Association Board (IFAB) is considering the possibility of introducing in the rules of football 10-minute suspensions of players for actively expressing disagreement with the decision of the referee, reports The Times.
The basis for such an initiative was a similar practice that already exists (since 2019) in English amateur and youth football.
And now the IFAB is considering introducing this rule in professional football as well. A special meeting of the organisation will be held in a fortnight' time to discuss the topic.
The IFAB may also introduce a further change to the refereeing rules, allowing only team captains to address referees.
