Iceland tried hard to get back into the game and made several substitutions, in particular, in the 73rd minute A. Gudjonsen was replaced by O. Oskarsson. Gudjohnsen immediately distinguished himself by scoring a goal in the 74th minute, which gave his team a glimmer of hope. The Slovaks remained resolute and made their substitutions to keep the lead. In the 79th minute, I. Schranz and D. Duris entered the game. As time went on, tension grew and in the 89th minute Slovakian M. Dubravka received a yellow card. In the last minutes of the match the Slovaks made the last substitution, replacing R. Bozenik with R. Polijevka. Despite Iceland's late attempts, Slovakia held on to win 4-2 to the delight of their fans. This exciting European Championship qualifier match showcased the talent and determination of both teams. Slovakia's clinical play and solid defence was the decisive factor that secured them a crucial win at home. Iceland, despite their best efforts, could not pull off the victory but showed their fighting spirit until the final whistle. The Štadión Tehelné pitch provided the perfect backdrop for this tense encounter, and the passionate fans created a tense atmosphere throughout the match.
