North Macedonia head coach Blagoja Milevski told what he expects from the Euro 2024 qualifying match against Italy, which will take place today in Rome.
"When you work professionally in football, you always expect success. So the lack of tournament objectives (the North Macedonian national team has lost its chances of reaching the finals of Euro 2024 - ed.) does not change anything for us in the context of the upcoming match.
We did not come to the game with Italy as tourists, but in order to get the best possible result. Our focus is not on what happened in the past, but on what we have to do tomorrow. We need to play at a level superior to Italy to come home with a positive result.
Every match is its own unique story, none of which are like the previous ones. Therefore, the match against Italy is a special one for us. In addition, given the status of the opponent, this match is of great importance for us. So, I repeat, we are here to do our best to win.
Besides, when you represent your country, you should always try your best. Including against a strong team like Italy. We can still be competitive, even with young players who want to prove themselves," Milewski said at the pre-match press conference.
