The National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting, at the request of Megogo LLC, cancelled the registration of the channel with the UPL TV logo. The regulator made this decision at its meeting on 16 November.
When asked by Deputy Chairman of the National Council Oleg Chernysh what the reasons for these changes were, the company representative replied: "These are difficult times. We will focus our representatives on the existing channels. And for now, we are not going to do UPL TV. We were a technical partner, and now we have changed our plans." When asked whether the service will continue to show Ukrainian Premier League matches, he replied that "for now, theservice shows individual matches."
As a reminder, on 31 August, the National Council registered several Megogo linear media, including UPL TV. On 14 September, the National Council registered UPL TV LLC, a linear media outlet from Vynnyky, Lviv region, which also plans to broadcast using OTT/IPTV technologies and will be broadcasting under the UPL TV logo. The media representative said that the channel intends to broadcast matches of clubs from Lviv and Uzhhorod, and is in talks with other clubs.
Deputy Chairman of the National Council Oleh Chernysh asked whether the company was related to the UPL TV channel, which was registered by the Megogo media service during the last meeting. The company's representative said that UPL TV operates separately, has already registered a patent for the name and hopes to become more popular than its competitors.
