Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has reacted to the Premier League's decision to strip Everton of ten points.
"The Toffees were punished for not complying with the fair play rules during the 2021/22 season. Sean Dyche's team now ranks 19th in the standings with just four points after the biggest sports fine in the Premier League's history.
"The 10-point deduction for Everton is excessive and wrong, given that they have been working with the Premier League on this issue for the past few years.
Until other clubs are sanctioned, Everton will feel they are being used to show there is no need for an independent regulator, and they would be right," Carragher wrote on his Twitter page.
