The current European Championship qualifying cycle, the youth national team of Ukraine (players born in 2002 and younger), led by the Spaniard Unai Melgosa, began with three consecutive victories, including a 3-2 victory over the current European champions, the English, in October.
Now, in Murcia, Spain, the blue and yellows hosted the Luxembourg team. From the start, the Ukrainians began to dominate the field and took control of the ball. The first goal was Vanat's one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but Latik saved his team. Shortly after a throw-in from deep, Rubchynskyi scored with his second touch - again, the goalkeeper parried.
In the 24th minute, the Ukrainians almost scored at their own goal, but Neshcheret saved his teammates. Later, Batagov connected on a corner and scored with his head, but Latik was there. Then Viunnyk closed Vanat's shot, but his shot was covered by a defender. And yet, in the 35th minute, the blue and yellows opened the scoring: after a great throw-in from Batagov, Voloshin passed to Vanat on the empty net.
At the beginning of the second half, Luxembourg remained in the minority - Berberi received a second warning. Later, a flurry of dangerous attacks from the Ukrainians followed, and Latik saved his team several times. However, in the 64th minute, Batagov came to a corner and, after a rebound from the opponent, doubled the advantage of the blue and yellows. Soon after, Voloshyn sent the ball into the net, scoring a great goal from a corner kick.
In the 74th minute, the combination of Ocheretko-Smolyakov-Krasnopir brought our team the fourth goal. Our guys could have scored more, but settled for the final 4-0.
Unai Melgosa's men will also play their next match in Murcia on 21 November against Azerbaijan (kick-off: 20:00 Kyiv time).
