Head coach of the Welsh national team Robert Page, commenting on the results of the play-off draw for the Euro 2024 qualifying cycle yesterday, admitted that he did not want to get the Ukraine national team as opponents. Recall, the lot has drawn the Welsh in the play-off semi-final with Finland, and if successful, they will play in the final with the winner of the Poland-Estonia pairing.
"We wanted to avoid the match with Ukraine. So everything is good. So far everything is going according to a favourable plan for us. I don't think there was at least one national team among the play-off participants that wanted to get us as opponents.
In general, I was more worried about us being the home team in a potential play-off final. In our current form in front of our fans in Cardiff, we can face anyone. So we have a great chance. We are just two wins away from qualifying for the Euros," the BBC quoted Page as saying.
