Just before the half-time whistle, Borussia Dortmund took the lead for the first time in the match. J. Baino-Gittens dotted down the match, ending an impressive first half for the home side. The second half started with a flurry of substitutions, with both teams trying to make progress. Borussia Dortmund replaced M. Sabitzer with G. Reina, while Monchengladbach replaced T. Kwankara with J. Sibatcheu. The intensity of the game led to rough clashes, and on 55 minutes J. Weigl of Monchengladbach received a yellow card.
As the final 20 minutes approached, both teams made key substitutions in search of a breakthrough. For the Monchengladbach side, R. Reitz was replaced by N. Nguma, while E. Kahn replaced S. Brandt (Dortmund) received a yellow card, adding to the list of penalties in the match. More substitutions followed: on 82 minutes J. Weigl replaced K. Kramer for Monchengladbach. In the 87th minute, K. Koné received a yellow card. The drama continued at half-time. Borussia Dortmund sealed their victory with a goal by D. Malen in the 90th minute, making the score 4-2 in favour of the hosts. The match showed the skill and determination of both teams, accompanied by a flurry of goals and subsequent substitutions. Borussia Dortmund showed their skill in attack and their ability to recover from defeat. While Borussia Monchengladbach fought hard but were unable to get a positive result. All in all, it was an exciting game that left the fans at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK absolutely delighted.
