Obolon coach Valerii Ivashchenko told us how the team managed to get back to Kyiv at four o'clock in the morning after overcoming traffic jams.
- Valery Vladimirovich, how is the team feeling?
- It was a difficult trip. The conditions were not footballing. We got caught in a blizzard and snowdrifts. We stood on the road for about two hours, simply because the only track was completely occupied by lorries. At best, we were driving at 50-60 kilometres per hour.
- How did you manage to enter Kyiv during the curfew?
- I also had to stand at the checkpoint. They had orders not to let anyone in. But they talked to us and told us that we were our own, Kyiv residents, returning home. Their superiors called them, they understood our situation, looked at the bus and let us through.
- At 4am you were at the stadium, and the curfew was still in effect?
- Yes, we spent about an hour at the stadium. And then we calmly left.
