AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli commented on his team's defeat in the Champions League Matchday 5 against Borussia Dortmund.
"We lost the match when we had the opportunity to implement our scenario. It was the case with the penalty, it was the case a minute before the second goal, when we could have taken the lead, but failed to do so.
When you don't score and immediately concede, it undermines your spirit. Losing Tchau, of course, affected the balance of the defence. We had to defend better.
We were able to create chances and we knew it was going to happen. There were situations in which we should have tipped the scales in our favour, but instead the momentum went to our opponent, who was clearer, cooler and better at taking advantage of chances.
A disappointing evening. We know we had a great opportunity and that weighs us down. Now it's our duty to go to Newcastle, play a good game and try to win. We still have a small chance to go further," Pioli was quoted as saying by Football Italia, citing Sport Mediaset.
