The head coach of the first-league Epicentre from Kamianets-Podilskyi, Serhii Nagorniak, spoke about the chances of the Ukrainian national team to qualify for Euro 2024 through the play-offs.
Sergey Nagornyak- Our national team is now really the strongest among the four contenders for a ticket to the Euro. It proved this in the qualifying round. Before that, could anyone in Europe have predicted that Ukraine would fight with Italy until the last round and end up with the same number of points? In my opinion, the strength of our national team is in its powerful team play.
In terms of the level of players, we are superior to our play-off rivals. We have representatives of the top championships in England, Spain, Italy, and clubs such as Chelsea and Arsenal. We finally have a scoring forward in Dovbyk, who is making a splash at Girona. But this does not mean that we will go to the Euros for sure. Let's not forget that the play-off stage consists of one match, not two. Believe me, the Bosnians believe that they will defeat Ukraine in one match on their home field. Especially as they have such stars as Djeko, Pjanic and Krunic in their squad," Nagornyak told Expres.
