The Magpies are considering the Spanish goalkeeper as a replacement for Nick Pope, who could miss up to five months with a shoulder injury. The Newcastle bosses will try to convince the 33-year-old to accept a pay cut from the salary he was receiving at Old Trafford.
It is worth noting that Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe has goalkeepers Martin Dubravka and Loris Karius in his reserve squad.
