According to ESPN Brasil, the 36-year-old footballer received the local Ballon d'Or at a special ceremony after the end of Serie A. In 33 league matches, the Uruguayan scored 17 goals and provided 11 assists.

At the end of the season, Gremio finished second in the Brazilian league. "Palmeiras was two points ahead of Suarez's team in the standings.
