In yesterday's match of the 17th round of the Ukrainian league between Shakhtar Donetsk and Veres (2-0), a fantastic incident occurred: the visitors were awarded a penalty out of thin air - in the most literal sense. And this is despite the fact that the VAR system was used at this game.
At the start of the second half, with the score at 1-0, Shakhtar's attack ended with Oleksandr Zubkov's shot, after which the ball in Veres' penalty area first hit Yevhen Shevchenko's body and then flew close to his hand. Moreover, the ball flew so obviously close that to see in this situation touching the ball with the hand of the player could only be a person who is in a state of severe alcohol intoxication. Or, for example, the one who wanted to award a penalty in this situation at all costs.
We would like to add that the chief referee for the Shakhtar vs Veres match was Kateryna Monzul, while the VAR system was managed by Vitaliy Romanov.
