Dynamo President Ihor Surkis expressed his opinion on the team's performance in the first part of the season on Profootball Digital.
Igor Surkis- The first part of the season is over. What are your impressions?
- I didn't like today's last match. I've been playing football for 25 years, as president I've been playing for 23 or 24, and I didn't like this football. And I will never like it because one team decided to play only to defend its goal, while the other tried to "open" this defence. Even in the days when we had more star players, it was still difficult to do.
I liked the football that we played with Metalist 1925 - 4-2, when both teams attacked - as they say, looking for each other's goal. But we won, and that's very good. We will fight for first place. Nothing is lost yet, everything is ahead.
- Obolon defended, but Dynamo could have played more actively...
- I didn't like the football of both teams - Obolon and my team, because until the 67th minute we couldn't break through the opponent's defence. Perhaps we should have played a little differently - kicking at the goal, breaking into free zones, and not playing like the Brazilians - short passes. Such teams need to score in the first minutes, like Metalist 1925, and then it will be easier.
- Why are there such problems with Obolon? Already in three matches.
- This is a derby, a fundamental confrontation. Everyone is to blame, the referees are to blame. And what are your complaints about the referee if they step on your ankles every minute? Half of our team has torn ankles. This is how they play football. Right now, doctors are working on Brazhko and Buyalsky's ankles. A blind person could have seen that in the episode with the penalty kick, the Obolon player was not playing the ball, but stepped on Buyalsky's foot.
- In the episode with the first goal, there were also disputes about the violation.
- There is VAR for that.
- Assess the work of Oleksandr Shovkovskyi. What is your opinion?
- I removed the prefix "acting" and appointed Shovkovskyi as a full-fledged head coach. It was the same with Serhii Rebrov once. I wished Oleksandr Volodymyrovych all the best and that everything would work out for him in the same way as for Serhiy Stanislavovych. And then everything will depend on the result.
- Will Shovkovskyi be the head coach for a long time?
- We will discuss everything with him. I have just told him everything in the dressing room. We have discussed everything.
- Transfer policy. Will you strengthen the team?
- I'm ready to strengthen the team, but with players who will actually strengthen the team's performance, not just recruit players for the sake of it. Of course, we will strengthen, but now it is very difficult to strengthen a team like Dynamo with players who would like to come here. We will do everything in our power to ensure that the players the head coach needs come to us. We have a very large number of people whom we wanted to invite both before the war and after it started, but not everyone wants to come to Ukraine.
- What about the domestic market?
- We will also look at the domestic market, but I don't see any players on the domestic market other than Shakhtar who could significantly strengthen us. We have youngsters who need to progress and break into the first team.
- What do you think of the players from Polissia and Kryvbas?
- Polissia and Kryvbas players play for Polissia and Kryvbas.
- These are your competitors now.
- Yes, they are our competitors. It just so happens that there is a war going on. Believe me, if there was no war, only two teams, Dynamo and Shakhtar, would be fighting for first place. You can be sure of that. And when the situation in the country is such that there is a full-scale war, we need to help our military, and then think about football.
When the war is over, there will be quality transfers, as there were before at Dynamo, when Dragovic, Vida, Lens, Teodorczyk, Mbokani came to the team. These were very high-quality players. At that time, Ukrainian players did not get into the squad because of them - the same Yaremchuk, for example, who later became a star player.
Therefore, you need to be very careful with your students. We have a very good academy. Now we have a very good class of 2006, two or three of them will go to the training camp with the first team - the same Ponomarenko, Mikhavko. First of all, we have to look at our guys and give them the opportunity to play football. This is important both for the Ukrainian national teams of different age groups and for Dynamo. It's very nice when we are first in the ranking by the number of our pupils in the first team. And we will not make transfers just for the sake of transfers, and I should not be criticised. We will do what the head coach wants, and only to strengthen the team.
We bought Lonwijk, our Brazilian, who, as soon as the rocket arrived, immediately ran home. I also asked Kendziora and Verbych to stay, but they didn't want to - their families, mothers, fathers, everyone is afraid.
- What are your emotions when you see Tsygankov play for Girona?
- I am very happy. He has signed a great deal, and I believe that Tsygankov will be sold for a lot of money. Many journalists wrote that Dynamo sold him at the wrong time, but we did everything on time. Both Girona and we will get a lot of money from the subsequent sale of Tsygankov.
- Is there anything similar in Mykolenko's deal?
- Both Mykolenko's and Zabarnyi's deals have it.
