However, their efforts were quickly thwarted as Sevilla continued to dominate. In the 49th minute, Sevilla increased their lead when S. Ramos struck the opponents' goal. The third goal forced Granada's defence to stagger and effectively sealed the game for the visitors. With every minute Granada tried to regain control of the game.
In the 57th minute, R. Torrente received a yellow card, which further aggravated the situation. To change the dynamics of the match, Granada made two substitutions in the 64th minute. K. Neve was replaced by A. Fernandez, and S. Ruiz came on in place of N. Petrovic. Meanwhile, Sevilla also made changes in the 71st minute: Suso came on in place of M. Bueno and L.
