Chornomorets Vice President Volodymyr Heninson has announced that he is leaving the Odesa club.
"Sooner or later, any journey comes to an end. An exciting, colourful, eventful one. And it's time to say thank you and start a new chapter in the book of life.
These were not just two years of work at Chornomorets. We have become closer, dearer. We went through this journey together despite all the difficulties. In December 2021 (it was as if in a past life, in another world, when civil aviation flew over us, and not all this), we hosted, to be frank, a pharmaceutical club. And by the end of the year, in just three weeks, we created an ambitious project with a new old coach, new faces, real leaders who are now lighting up the world.
But the damned war ruined all our plans. On 27 February 2022, we had to bring football back to Odesa. We sold 25,000 tickets for the game with Mariupol in a few days, but all our ideas became history. They never came to fruition in real life.
Summer 2022. And we are building a team again in 3 weeks. But the conditions are different, the world has changed, football Ukraine has changed. Of course, it didn't turn out the way we wanted. The team finished the first round with 11 points, 10 goals scored, at the bottom of the standings. We spend the winter break with benefit - a successful transfer campaign and strong coaching work are paying off.
"In the second round, Chornomorets is one of the best teams in the league in terms of games played and points scored. More and more often, the Seafarers are demonstrating the football of our dreams. For those who like to criticise the team without any particular reason, rewatch the matches against Shakhtar, Kryvbas and Dynamo. As a result, we are in the top ten. Although almost no one believed in us.
Summer 2023, again hard work to assemble a combat-ready team. Let me remind you: this is all happening under martial law, to the sound of sirens, flying missiles and explosions. We still manage to strengthen the team with free agents. Strong free agents, I emphasise.
"In the first half of the first round, Chornomorets is a team that is constantly fighting for the top 3. Yes, we do not have the longest bench, and other circumstances did not allow us to gain a foothold in the group of leaders. But we are approaching the winter break with our heads held high and as semi-finalists in the Cup
In two years, we have created and even restarted the team 4 times. 27 new players, 15 legionnaires, 68 official offers, 172 selected players, over 500 analysed players.
I remember with great gratitude the time I spent with Roman Iosypovych. He is a man who cannot exist without football. The game never leaves his mind for a minute. I have never seen a knowledgeable, educated specialist spend even his free time watching matches and training. The coach helped me to look at football in a different way. I am grateful to you, Roman Yosypovych, for sharing your worldview of my favourite game. This knowledge is priceless!
I thank Chornomorets for their will, strength and desire.
I thank the owners for their trust.
I thank the coaching staff for their work.
Thanks to the players for their dedication
Thanks to everyone who was there, supported and generated content!
Take care of each other!
And most importantly, thank you to the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the opportunity to play and live!" Geninson wrote on his Facebook page.
