TheAll-Ukrainian Association of Football Coaches has named the best coach of the top division of the Ukrainian championship in 2023.
Yuriy Vernydub (photo: gettyimages.com)Yuriy Vernydub, head coach of Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih, was the winner with an average score of 4.44.
Among his achievements:
- "Kryvbas" is the "winter champion", which means it takes first place during the intermission;
- Kryvbas is in fourth place (57 points) in the consolidated table for 2023;
- no UPL coach has scored more points than the winner in the calendar year 2023.
During the course of this season, Yurii Mykolaiovych was recognised as the best coach in the Ukrainian championship following the results of 4 rounds.

We remind you of the criteria:
1. Nominal result of the team
(importance, unexpectedness, opponent's strength, historical and tournament component)
2. Difficulties in managing the team
(injured / disqualified, special circumstances)
3. Skill in working with personnel
(players used in positions other than their usual ones and unexpected but successful new faces in the squad)
4. Coaching skills
(variety of tactics, changes during the match, use of the human factor)
5. Cumulative criterion
(if the team under the leadership of the coach demonstrates clear progress, continuous improvement of results, coaching innovations for several rounds in a row)
The average score is derived from all the marks given to the coaches each round.

- in 2017 - Roman Sanzhar (Olimpik Donetsk),
- in 2018 - Volodymyr Sharan (FC Oleksandriya),
- in 2019 - Oleksandr Ryabokon (Desna from Chernihiv),
- in 2020 - Viktor Skrypnyk (Zorya),
- in 2021 - Mircea Lucescu (Dynamo),
- in 2022 - Oleksandr Kucher (SC Dnipro-1).
