In 1969, a qualifying match for the World Cup USSR national team with Rudakov in the gate held in Belfast against the team of Northern Ireland. Confrontation between Catholics and Protestants in this city reached its apogee. Left Belfast our diplomats, closed the consulate of the USSR. The holding of the match was under great threat. There was information that, say, one of the opposing sides is going to kidnap two players of the Soviet team Evgeny Rudakov and Albert Shesternev, as hostages.
When the visiting players were allowed to walk around Belfast, two guards with automatic rifles did not take a step away from Evgeny and Albert.
Rudakov defended the match on "zero". With his hands-"tentacles" the Kyivan pulled out "dead" balls. Irish sports journalists in their reports on the match gave our goalkeeper the nickname "eight-legged".
In Mexico, where our national team was preparing for the start of the World Cup in 1970, in the last test match with the Venezuelan national team Eugene took "intentionally" the ball after a cannon blow of the rivals' striker. Jumping over Rudakov, Shesternev knocked out his collarbone with his knee. The Dynamo player was urgently sent to the hospital, where under general anaesthesia they made a complicated operation. Winner of four gold medals of the USSR champion, winner of the 1966 Cup. In the USSR championships played 215 matches, scored 49 goals. In 16 European Cup matches he scored 7 times. He played 19 matches in the national team. Participant of the 1970 FIFA World Cup. He was included 4 times in the lists of "33-best".
Anatoliy Kirilovich scored the first Dynamo goal in the European Champions Cup. It happened on 210 September 1967 in Glasgow in the 3rd minute of the match against the then winner of this prize Scottish Celtic. The Kyivians won - 2:1. And the local press named Puzach the most useful player of the game.
And the second achievement of the Kiev forward is curious in its own way. At the 1970 FIFA World Cup in Mexico for the first time allowed teams to make substitutions. In the second half of the opening match between Mexico and the USSR, which took place on 31 May, Puzach replaced his Dynamo Kyiv teammate Viktor Serebryanikov and thus went down in history as a participant of the first (historic) substitution at the Mundials.
