Myron Markevych, the head coach of Karpaty, tried to explain the main failures of Yevhen Konoplyanka after his departure from the Ukrainian championship.
- Yevhen Konoplyanka is a very technical player who was once the leader of Dnipro, which you coached. After the UPL, something went wrong for him. He also had problems in the CFR Cluj. What happened to him?
- I don't know. He played well for me at one time. Then everything went wrong, as I would have liked. But there's nothing you can do, it happens. I know that he helped me a lot at Dnipro and it is his great merit that we played in the Europa League final.
- He said he was disappointed in the team's coach. Allegedly, the coach said one thing at first and then something completely different. Could this be the main reason why the winger did not play?
- The coach's trust is very important for a footballer. This is the basis, and if there is no trust, it is very difficult for a footballer. So, probably, yes.
- What chance does Konoplyanka have to play at a decent level and show stability?
- Well, it's hard to say right away, because I haven't seen him for a long time and haven't spoken to him for a long time. This should be his decision.
- Which club would suit Yevhen's style of play now?
- I don't know, it's hard to say anything right now. I haven't seen him for a long time, so what can I say now? It depends on his fitness and how he is. He was plagued by injuries... Well, he played well for Dnipro, and I wanted to take him to Metalist. But it didn't work out. However, he made such a significant contribution to Ukrainian football. So we need to thank him for that.
