Famous Ukrainian coach Oleksandr Babych analysed the performance of Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih in the first part of the season for UPL TV.
Oleksandr Babych (photo: D. Rudenko)- Kryvbas is the leader of the UPL after the first part of the season. Is this a sensation or a pattern?
- Given that few people expected this at the beginning of the championship, it is most likely a sensation. But if we analyse the results of the matches and the game itself, we have two opening teams - Kryvbas and Polissia - who deserve the positions they are in.
- In fact, Kryvbas now has the same players who played in the team last season, when it did not even qualify for the European Cups. So what can explain this tournament progress?
- Firstly, the players have played together. There are both young and more experienced players. There are those who think well on the pitch, there are faster ones, and it is noticeable that the coaching staff led by Vernydub is fielding the right set of players who have a balance in defence, attack and transition phases. It's about the right tactical choices and the work of the whole team in the middle block, no one is left out of the game without the ball. If someone drops out in a game against the ball or in defence, problems can arise. In this part of the season, there were few Kryvbas matches in which someone fell off.
- Don' t you see this as a sign that the overall level of the championship has dropped?
- If we compare the game of Kryvbas and its opponents, Kryvbas closes well and the opponents do not always have enough individual skill to open this defence. Perhaps the league has slipped a little in terms of individual skill. But if we take into account the average level of our teams, there is intrigue in the standings and, perhaps, it should be said that this season is much more interesting than the previous ones.
