Zhytomyr Polissia defender Serhii Chobotenko spoke about his team's objectives for the second half of this season.
Sergey Chobotenko- Serhii, you started playing for Polissia at the beginning of this season. What are your impressions of your first six months at the club?
- I'm very happy to be in a winning team that sets itself the highest goals. After the match against Veres (1:1), there was a storm of emotions in the dressing room. I caught myself thinking that I was feeling a buzz playing in a team for which a draw is like a defeat.
- How would you rate the first part of the campaign for the team?
- I think we performed very positively. The club is playing in the UPL for the first time and is still in its formative stage, but it has already shown that it must be respected.
- Did the club management set you any specific tasks for the season?
- We have maximum tasks. The president is used to always being the first in everything, and football is no exception. We will fight for the championship until the last game of the championship.
- Which teams, in your opinion, will be in the top five of the European Cup at the end of this season?
- I think the top five ( Kryvbas, Dnipro-1, Polissia, Shakhtar, Dynamo - ed.) are already visible in the standings. All these teams will be fighting for the championship.
- Which striker was the most difficult for you personally to counter during the first part of the campaign?
- I would single out Eduardo Guerrero of Zorya. He is a very good striker. Although small, he is agile, powerful, technical, and plays well with his body. He has all the qualities to become a top striker. He is a very serious opponent for the UPL.
- It is interesting that the media are already wooing Guerrero to Polissia. What do you think about this? Would you like to have this player?
- Of course, he would add competition to our team. I think it would be a very good signing. We have good strikers, but competition is the engine of progress.
- How do you get on with the head coach of Polissia Yuriy Kalitvintsev?
- It's great. Kalitvintsev was a very good player and brought all the best to his coaching. We have a good understanding, and I learn a lot from him.
- Have you already met your team's most famous player, Oleksandr Usyk?
- Usyk hasn't trained with us yet this season. He came to the team twice. We shook hands and I took a photo with him as a souvenir.
I think he knows every Polissia player because he watches our matches when he has time. After the fight with Tyson Fury, we are waiting for him to join the team.
- The media call Polissia the "Ukrainian PSG". Do the salaries in the team reach 50 thousand dollars?
- I can't comment on your information. I do not understand where such data comes from. I do not have such a salary.
