Villarreal's manager made crucial substitutions in an attempt to turn the tide of the game. In the 56th minute, J.L. Morales and A. Sorloth came on the pitch, replacing A. Altimira and Kiko. However, Las Palmas responded with fresh forces: in the 61st minute, A. Moleiro came on in place of Marvin. "Las Palmas" continued to dominate, and their efforts were rewarded in the 63rd minute, when C. Rodriguez struck for the second time, putting his team ahead 3-0. Villarreal's hopes of a comeback victory faded and in the 68th minute they made a double substitution, replacing A. Pedraza and C. Comesan with A. Comesan for A. Moreno and F. Coquelin. As the match drew to a close, Las Palmas made strategic substitutions to consolidate their advantage. In the 74th minute, S. Ramirez and Javier Munoz were replaced by B. Ramirez and E. Loyodis. The match between Las Palmas and Villarreal showed some impressive football and Las Palmas were deserved winners with a 3-0 victory.
