Lille continued to dominate the second half. Lorient tried to get back into the game, but Lille's defence remained unwavering. In the 46th minute, Lorient made their first substitution: A. Tosin replaced E. J. Crupi, trying to give the team fresh energy.
Lorient's frustration continued to grow when A. Pelon received a yellow card in the 55th minute, further undermining Lorient's chances of a counter attack. Determined to take all three points, Lille made their first substitution in the 77th minute, replacing J. Yazici with R. Cabén. Yazici for R. Cabella. In the 75th minute Lorient made two more substitutions: T. Bakayoko made room for J. Mvuka Mugishi and J. Mvuka Mugisha. Mvuka Mugishi, and A. Kari replaced R. Openda. In the 84th minute, T. Le Bris was replaced by G. Kaoki, and Lorient coach Stephane Pelissier made one last substitution in an attempt to salvage something in the match. However, it was too little and too late for Lorient: in the final minutes of the game, I. Touré received a yellow card for a rough tackle, which further compounded their misfortune. With just moments to go, Lille sealed the victory with two late goals. R. Cabella scored in the 90th minute, and E. Zhegrova added one more in compensatory time, putting the result in doubt. The final whistle sounded and the home team's fans erupted in jubilation. Lille came out deserved winners, having outplayed Lorient throughout the match. Their superb performance showcased their quality and emphasised their status as one of the best teams in Ligue 1.
