Their talented striker Richarlison took advantage of a mistake in Manchester United's defence in the 19th minute and scored. Manchester United fought back strongly and regained the lead in the 40th minute thanks to a good strike from M. Rashford. This goal demonstrated the team's attacking prowess and put them in a promising position before the break. However, in the second half the fate of Manchester United changed to the opposite. Just a minute after the start of the match R. Bentancur struck the gates of Tottenham, again levelling the score.
The visitors' goal breathed new life into the match, and both teams began to fight for supremacy in a hard-fought battle. Despite their best efforts, neither side could find the winning goal and the match ended in a tense 2-2 draw. Both teams showed resilience and character throughout the game and the result was a fair reflection of their performances. Apart from the goals, the match saw a lot of yellow cards as the tension of the game increased. Manchester United players A. van Bissaka and R. Høylund received warnings in the 24th and 45th minutes respectively. Tottenham player R. Bentancur also received a yellow card in the 25th minute. Several substitutions were made by both teams to freshen up the line-ups and make tactical adjustments. In the 58th minute, Manchester United released K. Eriksen in place of S. McTominay, and in the 63rd minute, J. Evans replaced L. Martinez. Tottenham responded with T. Werner replacing B. Gil in the 80th minute and O. Skipp replacing R. Dragusin in the 85th minute. In the last minutes of the game, Manchester United released Anthony in place of M. Rashford in the 88th minute, and Tottenham introduced M. van de Ven in place of Emerson Royal in the 89th minute. Overall, the match was a colourful spectacle of top-level football in which both Manchester United and Tottenham demonstrated their attacking prowess.
