According to ESPN, the 27-year-old is likely to undergo surgery due to his persistent tendon problems in his quadriceps. As a result, the Magpies will not be able to count on one of their leaders for the rest of the season.

The Brazilian was injured on 6 January during Newcastle's 3-0 win over Sunderland in the third round of the FA Cup. Initially, it was expected that Joelinton would need about six weeks to recover. However, after conducting new tests, the Newcastle medical staff decided that the best option for the player would be surgery to prevent the injury from recurring.
