On Monday, 15 January, former Ukrainian national footballer Bohdan Shershun, who died on 7 January after a serious illness at the age of 43 in one of the clinics in Belgium, went on his last journey in Khmelnytskyi.
Many famous Ukrainian footballers came to say goodbye to Bohdan Shershun - Eduard Tsikhmeybuk, Vyacheslav Shevchuk, Serhiy Nagornyak, Yevhen Khacheridi, Andriy Vorobey, Volodymyr Yezersky, Ruslan Kostyshyn, Vitaliy Samoilov and others.
Bohdan Shershun was born in Khmelnytskyi, where he made his first steps in football. In 1997 he made his debut in the top league of the Ukrainian championship as a member of "Dnipro". In 2005 he won the UEFA Cup with CSKA Moscow. During his years as a professional footballer he played for Dnipro, Kyiv Arsenal, Kryvyirogorsk Kryvbas, Lutsk Volyn. He was a player of the national team of Ukraine of different ages, and also had experience of matches for the national team.
Since 2014, Shershun worked as an expert on TV and played for the veteran football team of Ukraine. As his friends say, he wanted to become a coach of a professional football club, but... a severe illness prevented this.
