On the previous day, Shakhtar CEO Serhiy Palkin admitted that the Donetsk club had turned down an offer from an unnamed club to sell midfielder Georgiy Sudakov for 40 million euros.
Almost simultaneously with the Pitmen's official's statement, the Italian media reported the news that Napoli had made an offer close to 40 million euros for Sudakov.
"Napoli are also trying to get a Ukrainian, Shakhtar's 21-year-old gem, who is driving half of Europe, including Juventus, crazy: Georgiy Sudakov, an extremely talented midfielder. He costs €40 million: Napoli tried to negotiate, they offered a sum very close to the amount requested, showing a concrete interest in the player, but so far the answer has been negative," writes Tutto Napoli, citing Corriere dello Sport.
